Too many people talk about how fast time is moving. While that may be true, it's partially self-inflicted.
By focusing too heavily on the passage of time itself, we make it speed it up.
There are ways to slow down our perception of time.
Here's what's worked for me:
1. Go on a trip somewhere new - your brain breaks out of old patterns and no longer needs to conserve energy.
It records new information. It's why you remember each day in great detail when you go on a trip.
2. Journaling / reflection - take the time to jot down your thoughts and feelings on a daily basis. Then look back at your calendar and everything you've done for the year.
It puts things into perspective. You actually did quite a lot of living up until now.
3. Meditation - this has been the single greatest tool to help slow the passage of time. Why does this work? Because you’re able to get out of your own head and stay in the present.
It's conscious awareness, and the more you train, the easier it is to snap out of automation mode.
Time isn't the enemy... our energetic minds are.
Thanks Josh, this is a great reminder to be in the present!
