Thoughts constantly buffet our attention. We often find ourselves caught in a relentless stream of thinking. We paralyze ourselves because we’re thinking too much about what others think, what society thinks, if it’ll work, if it won’t, if it’s right, if it’s wrong. To hell with it, stop overthinking, and just act.
There is a profound difference between thinking and doing. Through action, we live deliberately. And all too often, we find reasons not to act.
I draw inspiration from an interview with Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb, who says that some of the best decisions come not from overanalysis but from instinct and a willingness to act. Overthinking cripples decision-making.
The goal is not to eliminate thought entirely. It’s to find a balance where thinking serves rather than hinders progress. The goal is to embrace action and trust our instincts so we can move forward with more confidence and less doubt.
Think less.
Very true - we want all the things to fall into place and often thinking about what we want, how we want things to be means that the opportunity to do these things go past us.
